The Chainsmokers celebrate Billboard top ranking with U.S. tour

Just about everybody would rather spend the weekend partying and dancing instead of working a boring job. This is what makes the new music video for “Side Effects” by The Chainsmokers so relatable. The video starts with a hotel worker, played by Riverdale’s Camila Mendes, being told by her boss that she has to unexpectedly work over the weekend. However, after hanging up the phone with her boss she does not get right back to work but instead tears off her hotel uniform and begins to boogie to the beat of a catchy dance pop tune while running around the hotel.

The new song from the Chainsmokers is the fifth song from the DJ and production duo in 2018. The Chainsmokers are currently working on Sick Boy their next album set to follow Memories… Do Not Open which was their breakout debut released in 2017. The duo’s musical style has been described as a mix between pop music, indie, hip hop and electronica. “Side Effects” is a collaboration with Emily Warren who they have worked with numerous times in the past. Also, a collaboration between The Chainsmokers and Juice Wrld, an American rapper, was recently leaked online which caused quite the commotion in the dance pop music scene.

The Chainsmokers, Alexander “Alex” Pall and Andrew Taggart, have been on a tear as of late and was recently given the top ranking of Billboard’s list of top 100 dance musicians. However, the duo is trying to remain humble in their reaction upon hearing about their top Billboard ranking. “We’re really, really grateful. You have no idea how much this means to us,” remarked Pall. He then went on to reminisce about when they were not even able to get on the top 100 list for DJ Mag, highlighting how far the dance pop music duo has come.

The Chainsmokers recently appeared at XS Nightclub in Las Vegas, Nevada. They are currently touring in the U.S. with several concert dates set through September and October.
